Public construction cost and labor data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, shaped into a realistic job ledger for a ten-truck operation.
What was built
A Looker Studio dashboard with margin by job type, crew utilization by week, estimate-versus-actual variance, and a seasonal view by month.
What it found
- Maintenance work carried a lower ticket but a far steadier margin than emergency calls once drive time was costed properly.
- Two job types accounted for 61% of revenue and 34% of profit — the classic busy-but-thin pattern.
- Estimate accuracy dropped sharply on jobs over a certain size, pointing at a pricing rule rather than a crew problem.
