The question

The data
Public grant award and program outcome data from federal open data sources, restructured to resemble a three-program community organisation.
What was built
An outcome dashboard covering participants served, retention through the program, outcome achievement against target, and cost per participant, with a one-page funder export.
What it found
- Reach and results diverged: the largest program by participants had the weakest outcome achievement rate.
- Cost per outcome, rather than cost per participant, changed which program looked efficient.
- Standardising one definition of 'completed the program' removed most of the quarter-end reconciliation work.
