What results actually look like after a data project
Published
Short answer
The reliable wins are hours saved each month, marketing spend redirected away from sources that do not close, and pricing corrected on work that was quietly unprofitable. Most of the value shows up in the first quarter, and almost all of it comes from decisions the owner was already close to making but could not confirm.
A note on honesty
Mobile Bay Data is new, and I would rather show you the method and a fully worked example than dress up someone else's numbers as a case study. The figures below are the ranges this kind of work typically produces, drawn from how the analysis is built — not claims about named clients.
Result 1: time back
Automating a monthly reporting pack usually returns six to ten hours a month to whoever was assembling it. For an owner-operator that is close to a full working day recovered every month.
Result 2: marketing spend that earns its place
Once leads are tied to closed revenue rather than to enquiry counts, it is common to find one channel producing volume and very little work. Reallocating that budget is typically the single largest financial effect of a first project.
Result 3: pricing corrected on the quiet losers
Group jobs by type with burden and drive time included and one or two categories almost always turn out to be near break-even. Repricing or declining that work improves margin without winning a single new customer.
Result 4: fewer arguments
Harder to put a number on, but owners mention it most. When the definitions are written down and the numbers refresh themselves, meetings move from verifying figures to deciding what to do.
How results get measured
Before any build, we write down the handful of numbers the project is meant to move and where they stand today. At ninety days we look at the same numbers. If a project did not move them, that gets said plainly.
A local example
A realistic first-year picture for a six-to-ten person service business: roughly 90 hours of reporting time recovered, one lead source cut, and two job types repriced — achieved from a $650 health check and a dashboard build.
